A man who probably wanted to think outside the box to propose, has enacted a really scary and risky proposal prank on his girlfriend.

Taylor tricked his girlfriend into thinking she was being mugged

One man took a huge risk in proposing to his girlfriend - by setting up a fake 'mugging' as part of her surprise.

Lovestruck Taylor enlisted the help of Tom Mabe, a comedian and prankstar, in helping him pop the question to his unsuspecting girlfriend, Amanda.

Taylor was hoping to make the proposal unforgettable for his partner after admitting he had no money for a big ceremony or honeymoon.

His bizarre idea was for a group of men to pretend to rob the couple in Louisville, Kentucky.

Then a policeman would approach, before the gang were to accuse the couple of threatening them with a gun.

Safe to say, the first part of the prank went off without a hitch, leaving Amanda clearly terrified as she pleaded innocence to the police officer.

Thankfully, she said YES!

But just as the whole situation looked hopeless, the 'gang' suddenly burst into song as Taylor got down on one knee and pulled out a ring.

Thankfully, Amanda said yes, but admitted the entire group "scared her to death".

The video was uploaded to the Mabe In America YouTube channel on March 30 and has now been viewed more than 274,000 times.

Unsurprisingly, viewers had mixed thoughts on the proposal.

One YouTube user wrote: "Haha! What a funny way to propose! Congrats!"

But another added: "This looks like a terrifying way to be asked to marry someone."
