A 30-year-old teacher, Diana Michelle Machado Santos da Silva, and her six-year-old son, Pietro have been confirmed dead due to an electric shock from a washing machine cable in Brazil.
The devastating event occurred in their home in Formosa, Timon, Maranhao state.
The incident happened when Diana noticed her son in distress and rushed to help, only to be fatally electrocuted herself.
Both mother and son tragically perished at the scene. Investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to their deaths.
Local authorities revealed that Pietro was shocked after coming into contact with an iron railing connected to the live cable. Diana’s attempt to rescue him resulted in her own electrocution.
In the aftermath, Lieutenant Raphaello Carvalho of the Timon Fire Department urged vigilance and advised residents to locate circuit breakers in their homes and promptly call emergency services in such emergencies.
