The Yobe State Police Command conducted a raid at Kasda hamlet in Jakusko local government area of the state, to fish out members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in statement issued on Thursday, indicating that the raid followed a tip-off leading to the rescue one victim abducted from Zaki LGA of Bauchi State, and arrest of two suspects, as well as recovery of two AK-47 rifles with 26 rounds of live ammunition.
According to the statement, the two suspected kidnappers are Adamu Dimdo, 23, and Idi Dimdo, 25.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed that the principal suspect, Babawuro Audu, 45, a notorious gun runner and mastermind of numerous kidnapping, abduction, and robbery incidents in Yobe and neighboring states, is still at large.
“The command has launched a manhunt for Babawuro”, the statement said.
The Command also said another syndicate member, one Yau Audu (AKA Chindo), was arrested on June 30, 2024, in market place at Garin Alkali, processing transactions with proceeds from criminal activities, including livestock.
It said the case is currently under investigation by the State CID, and the suspects will be arraigned before the court in no distanced times.
The Command appealed to the public to provide timely information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing syndicate member.
