106 thugs were on Thursday, arraigned by the Kano State Police Command in various courts at Justice Aloma .M. Muktar and Justice A. B Wali Court complexes in Nomand-sland and Gyadi-Gyadi Quarters.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, July 11, 2024, said 43 other suspects linked to offences of culpable homicide, kidnapping, armed robbery, causing grievous hurt were remanded with the trials ongoing.
“You will recall that on 4th of July 2024, a total of one hundred and forty-nine (149) suspects were paraded at the State Headquarters in Bompai Kano for offences of Culpable Homicide, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Thuggery Related Crimes following a clearance operation conducted between 24th to 4th July, 2024, ten (10) days of the assumption of duty of the newly posted Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba,” the statement read.
"All the suspects were arraigned in various courts at Justice Aloma M. Mukhtar and Justice A. B. Wali Courts Complexes in Nomand-sland and Gyadi-Gyadi Quarters, Kano respectively, for prosecution.
"In a follow-up by the Command, a total of one hundred and six (106) suspects were successfully convicted for thuggery-related crimes with no option of fine, while forty-three (43) other suspects who were linked with capital offences of Culpable Homicide, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Causing Grievous Hurt were remanded with the trials ongoing
