Edo: They Wanted to Use Me as Scapegoat – Edo Deputy Governor, Shaibu

Posted by Thandiubani on Mon 22nd Jul, 2024 - tori.ng

Shaibu said his detractors wanted to use him as a scapegoat but God used his reinstatement to prove to them that he was his anointed.

The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu has opened up on how his detractors wanted to disgrace him.

This is as he claimed that his reinstatement was evidence he was God’s anointed.

Shaibu said his detractors wanted to use him as a scapegoat but God used his reinstatement to prove to them that he was his anointed.

The Edo State House of Assembly had impeached Shaibu following his rift with Governor Godwin Obaseki.

But Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja last week ruled that Shaibu’s impeachment was illegal.

The judge reinstated Shaibu and ordered the Inspector General of Police to provide him with the necessary security that would enable him to discharge the functions of his office.

Speaking after a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Benin, Shaibu described the court judgment as victory for democracy.

He noted that the fight against his impeachment was to protect the office of the deputy governor in Nigeria.

According to Shaibu: “I challenged God and I told Him that I wanted him to prove His power in my life, that people that are anti-God and anti-democracy were at it again and they wanted to use me as a scapegoat. I told God to show to the world that I am truly his son.

“They said they would impeach me and I would go to court and that by the time judgment would come the tenure would have been over.

“So, I challenged God to prove to them that they had touched His anointed and that the judgment would come faster than expected. I said I would need the judgment to come before the election.

“By the grace of God, democracy has come to stay and we that fought for democracy will protect it; anti-democratic forces must be flushed out and we will succeed.”
