Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organization, has expressed its condolences to Ndigbo over the demise of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu.
The condolence message was contained in a press statement issued on Friday by Afenifere national publicity secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi.
Recall that the businessman, community leader and politician passed away on Thursday in Abuja after a brief illness. He was 82 years old.
Reacting, Afenifere National Leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, in the statement, expressed sympathy to the family of the deceased, the people of Imo State and Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Afenifere stated that it had opportunities to interact closely with the late business mogul particularly since April 20, 2023, when the deceased emerged as Ohanaeze President-General after Late Professor George Obiozor.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu’s love for his people and his patriotic zeal never failed to come out boldly. He was cerebral especially when it comes to inter-cultural relationships
“At over 82, it could not be said that Chief Iwuanyanwu died too young. But there are many of his mates and older ones around.
“That’s the way of us mortals whereas the Almighty God has His own plans and arrangements that may not necessarily be in line with the wish of us mortals.
“There is no doubt that Chief Iwuanyanwu lived a meaningful life and left an indelible mark,” the statement said.
