The protesters, numbering over 2,000, had gathered opposite the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, as early as 8:00am.
Nigerians have come out in their numbers to protest against hunger and hardship in Rivers state.
The protesters defied morning rain to participate in the ongoing nationwide street protests against hardship and bad governance in Nigeria on Thursday.
The protesters, numbering over 2,000, had gathered opposite the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, as early as 8:00am.
They are currently marching through Aba Road, towards Government House, Port Harcourt, amidst tight security being provided by operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Department of State Service (DSS).
Leadership observed that there were over four Police patrol vans and an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) stationed in front of the Government House and manned by combat-ready Policemen.
