Some hackers have taken control of the official Facebook page of the Kano Hisbah Board, the state's religious security organization.
The hackers posted inappropriate and explicit media content after taking over the page.
Checks have showed that the hackers are posting n*de videos on the page.
Currently Hisbah Kano page has 63,000 likes and 82,000 followers.
Members of the public also expressed concerns over the development.
Confirming the development, the Commander General of the Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, stated that the situation had been addressed.
“Kano State Hisbah Board is aware that its Facebook page has been hacked and inappropriate things are being shared. On behalf of the board, I call on people to help solve this problem.”
He assured the public that the board’s ICT department is actively working to restore the page and is engaged in discussions with Meta to resolve the issue.
The Head of ICT at the Hisbah Board, Sani Zailani, noted that the account had experienced previous hacks and that Meta had been contacted regarding the latest breach, adding that Meta had pledged to resolve the issue within 48 hours.
