A woman, Amina Nura, has been remanded by a Sharia court in the Rijiyar Lemu area in Dala LGA of Kano State over an alleged attempt to kill a housewife, Rashida Kamal, whom she accused of obstructing her (Rashida) husband's proposal to marry her.
Nura was remanded alongside four of her accomplices, Nusaiba Abdullahi, Maryam Nura, Fatima Rabi'u and Maryam Sa'idu.
The court was told that Rashida’s husband, Alhaji Kamal, was dating the principal defendant and proposed marriage to her but later abandoned her, a decision she alleged was influenced by his wife and therefore decided to deal with her.
Amina and four of her accomplices were alleged to have gone to the house of the plaintiff carrying weapons and a poisonous substance and then assaulted her.
Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Yusuf Kabir, urged the court to admit them to bail.
The Khadi, Umar Usman Danbaba Dukurawa, however, ordered their remand in prison and adjourned to October 18, 2024.
