One Daniel Amaso has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Bayelsa State high court sitting in Yenagoa for r*ping a 17-year-old pre-degree student of the state-owned Niger Delta University in Amassoma.
The convict was arraigned for forcefully entering the 17-year-old apartment in Amassoma community, Southern Ijaw LGA, with a knife. He was said to have r*ped her under duress and robbed her of her phone afterwards.
Amaso was charged with r*pe, armed robbery and causing grievous harm before Hon. Justice Christine Kombo-Enegesi.
He was consequently found guilty on the three counts on Monday and sentenced to life imprisonment for the offences of r*pe and armed robbery and 7 years for the offence of inflicting grievous harm.
