The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a serious warning to the public, highlighting a growing trend in which Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs) are using everyday, seemingly harmless items to hide illegal substances.
This development comes as the NDLEA intensifies its operations, tightening the net around drug syndicates across Nigeria.
According to a statement by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday, July 6, recent seizures by NDLEA officers have brought to light the desperate measures taken by traffickers, who are now using virtually "everything in sight, no matter how tiny," to hide drugs.
The agency highlighted examples including property title documents and children's books as some of the latest unconventional concealment methods.
