Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has revealed why creating a new state is not possible anymore.

Speaking to those clamoring for the creation of new states, he asked them to desist from such thinking.

In a post on his official X handle on Friday, Sani urged citizens to focus instead on peaceful coexistence.

The former lawmaker noted that the process of state creation is constitutionally complex, adding that it’s not something that can be done by a mere presidential proclamation.

“People asking for the creation of new states should stop wasting their time and resources. They should learn to live with each other in peace. Read the constitution to know the complications. It’s not something which the President will just proclaim or announce,” he wrote.
