A German national was stabbed and robbed in Abuja on Saturday morning, an incident security experts say highlights the growing wave of lawlessness in Nigeria’s capital.

According to a security report obtained by SaharaReporters, the incident occurred at about 8am on Saturday along IBB Way, close to the Maitama Primary School.

The German national, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was reportedly walking along the road when he was attacked by hoodlums who operated on motorcycles.

SaharaReporters learnt that the attackers stabbed him and dispossessed him of his belongings before escaping.

The report flagged rising security concerns in Abuja, especially the increasing use of motorcycles for swift robbery operations, noting that both foreigners and locals are now potential targets.

The advisory issued alongside the incident report warned residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to exercise extreme caution.
