Rivers Assembly Begins Plenary After Emergency Rule

The Rivers State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Martins Amaewhule, is scheduled to resume its post-emergency plenary on Thursday.

It was gathered that the lawmakers will resume sitting at Conference Hall located within the legislative quarters in Port Harcourt.

The conference hall has been the lawmakers’ temporary meeting area since their official chamber at the House of Assembly complex located along Moscow Road was bombed by arsonists.

This followed the suspension of emergency rule earlier imposed by President Bola Tinubu on March 18.

President Tinubu had in a statement on Wednesday, lifted the suspension, asking the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the lawmakers to resume duties.
