2026 WCQ: Ex-Super Eagles Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi Makes New Claims About Chelle, Osimhen

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has made revelations about head coach Eric Chelle and striker Victor Osimhen following Nigeria’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs.

Recall that Nigeria defeated the Benin Republic 4-0 in Uyo on Tuesday, to qualify for the World Cup playoffs.

Osimhen scored a hat-trick, while Frank Onyeka also scored a goal during the encounter.

Speaking on SuperSport, Akpeyi claimed that there have been a lot of changes in the Super Eagles, and the players are stepping up under Chelle.

He added that Osimhen’s display against Benin shows the reason Galatasaray can pay any amount of money to retain the 26-year-old striker at the club.

“Since Eric Chelle came in they’ve been a lot of changes and the players are stepping up,” Akpeyi said.

“Whether you like it or not, in every team there is that superstar that you have, which is Victor Osimhen, who has lived up to expectations.

“It shows the reason Galatasaray can pay any amount of money to retain him there.”
