Former media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, on Thursday criticized Abia State Governor Alex Otti for visiting President Bola Tinubu to discuss Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ahmad informed Otti that Tinubu is not a court of law or the judiciary, stressing that justice is not negotiated in private meetings.

On Wednesday, Otti had visited Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja over Kanu’s life imprisonment sentence.

Kanu is currently serving his term in Sokoto Custodial Centre after he was convicted by Justice James Omotosho of Abuja Federal High Court.

Ahmad posted on X: “President Tinubu is not a court of law and certainly not the judiciary. The best assistance Gov.

“Otti can offer his convicted brother is to advise him to remain a law-abiding prisoner for now and seek redress through the proper legal channels.

“If there are grounds for appeal, let it be taken to the upper courts. Nigeria is governed by law. Justice is not negotiated in private meetings, nor reversed by presidential courtesy.

“The courtroom remains the only place where convictions are tested and overturned.”
