Shock As LASUTH Ambulance Driver D!es Inside Hospital Toilet

A staff member of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), identified as Aliye Saka and popularly known as Baba Niye, d!ed while using a toilet within the hospital premises.

It was gathered that the deceased, who was said to be an ambulance driver attached to the hospital’s ambulance bay, died on Monday, January 26, while using the toilet, Nigerian Tribune reported. 

A food vendor at the hospital, who identified herself as Mama Bola, expressed shock over the incident, stating that the deceased did not show any signs of illness before his death.

According to her, the deceased was found dead, seated on the toilet, several hours after he had entered the facility.“

“After he excused himself to use the toilet, his body was found there. We became aware of the situation when another person came knocking on the toilet door, but received no response,” she explained.

"About an hour later, the man returned and still got no response. At that point, he forced the door open and found Baba Niye’s lifeless body. I saw him earlier that morning, and he did not look sick at all, so it was a big surprise to hear that he d!ed in the toilet.”

A medical doctor at the facility, Dr Babalola, confirmed the incident. 

When contacted, the Chairman of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) at LASUTH, Comrade Odedeyi Adekunle, confirmed the incident but declined further comment on the tragic occurrence.

“The deceased is one of our members, but I cannot comment on the incident because I am only allowed to respond to union matters,” Adekunle added.
