Meraiah, daughter of veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, has announced her engagement on social media, unveiling footage that captures an aerial perspective of a waterfront city before transitioning to a close-up of her hand displaying a pear-shaped diamond ring.

Throughout the video, Meraiah's fiancé remains unidentified, with her deliberately positioning the camera away from his face whilst touching his head.

The deliberate obscuring of her partner's identity prompted inquiries from viewers questioning the choice to conceal him from public view.

Industry peers including actress Adesua Etomi extended congratulatory messages, though no wedding timeline has been disclosed.

The announcement coincides with developments surrounding Omotola's directorial venture.

On Tuesday, the veteran actress disclosed that her maiden directorial project, Mother's Love, grossed N103,094,663 at the box office but yielded only N22,276,558 to her as producer following industry deductions.

The film remained in theatrical circulation from March through mid-April before being withdrawn prematurely.

Omotola attributed the early removal to personal travel commitments that precluded continued promotional efforts, noting that maintaining the film's cinema run would have compromised its commercial prospects.

The producer's take reflected deductions encompassing exhibitor and distributor shares, print costs, promotional expenditures, value-added tax, entertainment levy and withholding obligations.

The entire net proceeds were transferred to educational charity Slum to School Africa by distribution partner Nile Entertainment in July.

The disclosure prompted commentary from fellow industry practitioners.

Actress Bolaji Ogunmola contended that the final amount fell considerably short of premiere and promotional expenses, let alone production outlays.

Social media observers echoed similar sentiments, arguing that distributors should recalibrate their terms given the financial burden shouldered by producers.

Mother's Love features an ensemble cast including the director alongside actors Noray Nehita, Ifeanyi Kalu, Olumide Oworu, Lilian Afegbai and Nosa Rex, following a young woman's independence journey during national service and her mother's corresponding struggle with separation.
