Masari Backs Tinubu, Says His Plans Stand Out After 40 Years in Politics

A former Speaker of Nigeria's parliament named Aminu Masari said President Bola Tinubu has the best plans he has ever seen to make Nigeria better in his almost 40 years of being involved in politics.

Masari spoke to a group of women at an event in Kaduna State and said he would swear on his life that he has never seen a president with plans as good as Tinubu's.

He said he has simply never seen anyone like him.

Masari, who was also a governor of Katsina State, defended Tinubu against people who say his government has not done much.

He said other presidents faced the same complaints when they first started their jobs.

He said people who say Tinubu has done nothing are the kind of people who never appreciate when someone is doing well.

He said previous presidents like Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan were also criticized for similar reasons.

He said the same kind of criticism that was directed at those presidents is now being directed at Tinubu.

Masari also criticized how people use religion and ethnicity when talking about politics.

He asked why people think religion belongs only to certain groups like the Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo people.

He said religion is for everyone.

He asked women preachers to use their power to tell people to stop making divisive statements and to support peaceful politics.

He said women know how to talk to their husbands and children better than anyone else.

He said only selfish people are pushing divisive talk.

Masari was Speaker of parliament from 2003 to 2007 and governor of Katsina from 2015 to 2023.

In August, he was given a job to help mobilize support for Tinubu's campaign for the 2027 election.

The election will happen on January 16, 2027.
