EFCC Declares Former Pension Boss Maina Wanted Again

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared Abdularasheed Maina, former head of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, wanted over allegations of receiving stolen goods.

The agency announced this on social media through a wanted notice signed by its head of Media and Publicity.

Maina, 61 years old and from Biu in Borno State, is being sought for the alleged crime.

The EFCC urged the public to help locate him if they have information on where he is.

Anyone with details about his whereabouts should contact the commission through its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja.

The public can also call the agency's telephone line or email [email protected], or report information to nearby police stations or other security agencies.

The notice did not give details about what was allegedly stolen or when the crime happened.

This move comes as Maina faces ongoing legal troubles over allegations tied to pension funds.

He was previously declared wanted after skipping his trial on charges of N2 billion fr@ud involving the pension reform scheme.

He was arrested in Niger Republic in 2019 and brought back to Nigeria.

In November 2021, a Federal High Court in Abuja found him guilty and sentenced him to eight years for money laundering.

Prosecutors said he was linked to managing money that came from unlawful activity.

The Nigerian Correctional Service said Maina was freed on February 25, 2025, after completing part of his time in prison.

The service said he was released for good behaviour while locked up and followed the law.
