Three children from one family have drowned in an old fish pond in Saniko Community, Agbarha Otor, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The victims are Great Anthony Ikpera, 6, Goodluck Anthony Ikpera, 8, and Vwegba Jite Ikpera, 12.
They are from the Ikpera family in Awirhe Community.
Their parents reported them missing on Saturday, and the search went on into Sunday.
Their bodies were found floating in the pond on Sunday morning.
The pond sits beside a flowing stream behind the community.
It is still unclear how the children got into the water.
The bodies were buried beside the stream.
The community is in mourning, and neighbours have been visiting the family to offer comfort.
Rufus Ovotu, President of the Agbarha Youth Council, urged parents to watch their children closely and keep them away from streams and other deep water, especially now that water levels are high.
The Delta State Police Command has not yet commented.
Calls and a WhatsApp message to its spokesperson, Bright Edafe, went unanswered.
