Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang says President Bola Tinubu took over in 2023 from an economy on the edge of collapse.

He spoke at the inauguration of the APC campaign councils in Jos, where he also rejected talk of a rainbow coalition and said Plateau is going with the APC in 2027.

He said Nigeria could not pay its foreign debts, and some international airlines stopped flying there because they could not get dollars to take their money home.

He said foreign reserves had fallen to about $3 billion but have now risen to over $50 billion.

He also claimed that the previous government printed more than N30 trillion to manage the economy.

Mutfwang called the old fuel subsidy system a fraud.

He said fuel is now available, even if it is more expensive, and that people no longer spend days queuing at petrol stations.

He also said the previous government sold future crude oil in advance, and that the country is still paying that debt.

On the election, he backed power rotating between the North and South.

He said Plateau has agreed to two terms per senatorial zone for the governorship.

He admitted insecurity remains a problem but said his government is acting on it and plans to help displaced people return home.

He ended by predicting Tinubu will win Plateau on January 16, 2027, and that voters will renew his own mandate two weeks later.
