Unbelievable! Popular Politician Caught Stealing His Opponent's Signposts (Photos)

A politician has shocked many people with his pettiness after he was caught stealing signposts belonging to his opponent.

Curry Todd

Curry Todd, a Tennessee State Representative, USA, found himself in more trouble than he can handle after he was found stealing signposts.

Todd was caught actually stealing signppsts which belobged his own political opponent.

The lawmaker has been arrested and charged with stealing his opponents' campaign signs.

However, according to WMC Action News, it was Todd's opponent that posted his bond.

A warrant was issued for Todd's arrest Monday and he was booked into the Criminal Justice Center on Tuesday afternoon.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office said deputies saw various videos of Todd stealing campaign signs that didn't belong to him. Deputies asked Todd to come in and talk about the videos, but Todd repeatedly refused to do so.

"He could've very easily come in to take care of this and it wouldn't have come to this," SCSO spokesman Earle Farrell said.

Hours later, Mark Lovell, one of Curry's opponents in the primary race, posted Curry's bond.

Todd is the current State Representative of Tennessee's 95th district. He is a Republican facing challenges from Lovell and Diane George in the August 4 Republican primary.

Farrell said two different videos show two different incidents of Todd walking up to campaign signs planted in the ground, pulling them up, putting them under his arms, and walking off.

Farrell said Todd was given at least two weeks to come in and talk to investigators about the videos, but because he never responded deputies were forced to get a warrant for his arrest.

"It's like my daddy always told me, 'Don't make me come get ya.' Well, Curry Todd made us come and get him," Farrell said.

Todd is now facing misdemeanor charges for theft of property just two days before the election.

Lovell said his signs were some of the ones taken, and Todd's arrest does not surprise him.

"He's the one that let himself get arrested," Lovell said. "We reap what we sow."

Lovell does work closely with Shelby County deputies, but said he did nothing to cause Todd's arrest.

"There's no influence on my half," Lovell said. "I even told the detective man, 'I'll be honest with you. I apologize for getting y'all involved in this petty detail.'"

Although Lovell was not too sympathetic following incumbent Todd's arrest Tuesday for allegedly stealing Lovell's campaign signs, he later posted Todd's $100 bond on the misdemeanor theft charges.

"I just got a phone call that he was still in jail, that no one had posted his bond. So, I posted his bond," Lovell said.

His reasoning for getting Todd out of jail?

"I just don't think we need to leave our state representatives in jail," Lovell said. "Just let them go before a judge and let the judge decide what he wants to do with them."

However, Lovell denied that Todd's arrest may have been politically orchestrated two days before Election Day.

"I just think it's foolish people think I have that much pull," Lovell said. "That's just ignorant people talking."

Deputies said they are just doing their job.

"We just enforced the law; that's what we do. We don't make selective arrests," Farrell said.

Lovell said he does not think the arrest so close to election time will harm Todd's status.

"I don't think it's that big of a deal. He's already got a lot of skeletons in his closet."

Lovell said he was putting out more campaign signs Tuesday night, and hopes they remain where they are placed.
