Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde alongside godfather of Nigerian standup comedy, Alibaba will be honoured with the African Achievers Award later this month in South Africa.
For blazing the trail in the Nigerian entertainment industry, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Alibaba will be honoured at the 2015 African Achievers Awards event billed for Johannesburg, South Africa on July 25, 2015.
Confirming the decision to honour Omosexy, A-list actress, who is celebrating her 20th anniversary in Nollywood and Alibaba (Atunyota Alleluya Akporobomerere), widely regarded as the pioneer of standup comedy in Nigeria, the AAA through its principal partner, Rex Idaminabo, said the duo are most qualified going by their outstanding contributions to the transformation of the entertainment industry in Nigeria and Africa.
According to Mr. Idaminabo, "While Omotala's zeal and consistency created the needed breakthrough for Nollywood to thrive, Ali Baba took the comedy business to a different level in the country".
"Both Omotola and Ali Baba created a path for others to follow. They showed other artists the desired paths, and today, entertainment has become one of the main industries in Nigeria and in Africa that pays more people than any other industry", he added.
