A Facebook user, El-Masjid Abdul Umar who shared the story wrote:
"This is very sad. The death of a brave Nigerian soldier who was killed while serving his Father land - has left people in a mourning mood. The soldier identified as Captain Hassan was killed during a military operation against the Boko Haram insurgents in Bita Forest near Damboa Local Government Area of ​​Borno State on Friday.
The soldier before his demise had been recognized by the Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima for his gallantry at the battlefield.
May his soul rest in peace."
