Omoni Oboli, Family Pay Tribute to British-Ghanaian Actor Who Committed Suicide

British/Ghanaian MTV host and Tommy Hilfiger model, Sam Sarpong has tragically taken his own life as he leaped to his death from a bridge in California. Tributes have begun to pour in for British/Ghanaian, Sam Sarpong actor who committed suicide in the US.

English-American-Ghanaian actor, super-model, and musician, Samuel Osei Sarpong, Jr., has been reported dead after jumping off a bridge in southern California.
 
According to reports, the Police in Pasadena spent seven hours attempting to talk down the 40-year-old star from jumping off the ledge.
 
Los Angeles County Coroner’s office, said the case was being investigated as a possible suicide but the cause of death would not be determined till the results of a toxicology test are released.
 
The British born actor and television personality moved to the US and forged a succesful career as catwalk model, working for Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci and Versace and became Louis Vuitton’s first black male model.
 
He later moved into acting and appeared in over 75 films and TV shows. He is most famous for his work hosting 'Yo Mamma', a youth comedy show which aired on MTV between 2006 and 2007.

He was also Nollywood actress, Omoni Oboli's husband in the movie, 'Anchor Baby'. He also released six albums with rap group and launched his own clothing line.
 
In a statement, his family said: "It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Sarpong Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away.
The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time. The family appreciates the thoughts prayers and other expressions of sympathy, and request their privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time."

Paying tribute to Mr Sarpong on Instagram, Nollywood actress, Omoni Oboli wrote;
 
"Have mercy Lord!!! I have been balling my eyes out for the last hour! I can't deal with this! God knows I can't! My husband in the movie 'Anchor Baby' gone like that! I have never met a more positive guy in my whole life! He's the most genuine, God fearing, lovable character you'll ever meet. What is in this life now? 😢😢😢 all the hustle! Over! Just like that! I'm MISERABLE! God speed fam! Rest in the bosom of The Lord!"
