Man Murders Six-Month Pregnant Wife In Anambra

A man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his second wife and throwing her body down from a five-storey building in Onitsha, Anambra State.

A man, who divorced his first wife about two years ago, has allegedly killed the woman he married after her.

It was gathered that the deceased was about six months pregnant when she was strangled.

Thereafter, she was allegedly thrown down from a five-storey building in Fegge, Onitsha, Anambra State.

The identity of the suspect and the deceased could not be ascertained as of press time.

A resident of the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that the incident took place around 10pm on Saturday.

He said, “The suspect was said to have been ejected by the landlord of his former house following the constant beating and divorce of his first wife.

“The suspect and the deceased met at the surgical equipment section of the Onitsha Bridgehead Market.

“As the relationship blossomed, he impregnated her but she later suffered a miscarriage under mysterious circumstances.

“The man quickly paid her bride price last December after the woman took in again.

“After he had killed the woman, he threw her corpse from the last floor of the five-storey building

“We learnt that he was evicted from where he was formerly living for beating his wife and the same thing has happened again.”


PUNCH Metro gathered that the corpse of the deceased was discovered by police detectives, who stormed the scene and arrested the suspect following a tip-off.

The Divisional Police Officer of the area, Mr Rabiu  Garba, confirmed  the incident to our correspondent.

He said the suspect had been arrested, adding that case had been transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau.
