We reported it here yesterday that former governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 as a result of a heart attack.

Reports reveals that the sad incident happened shortly after the results of the November 21 governorship elections was declared inconclusive, with Audu in the lead.

According to an exclusive report by The Trent, Audu’s family members are suspecting foul play in the death of the former two-time governor who was seeking a return to the Kogi State government house.

Family sources who spoke with the publication on condition of anonymity, said he (Audu) complained of stomach cramps before going to bed on Saturday night and suffered a stroke on Sunday morning at about 5:00am and died.

The source told a reporter in between tears; "My uncle was poisoned, he was poisoned. He shared a meal with a top APC chieftain from the South West (name withheld) a few days ago.
Since then, he has not been himself. His death is planned. It is all about usurping his position."

A source inside the Audu Campaign Organisation, disclosed that Audu suffered another stroke shortly after INEC declared the result of the election inconclusive and reportedly died of a massive heart attack soon after.

Audu who was 68 years at the time of his death was governor of Kogi twice, January 1992 to November 1993 and  May 1999 to May 2003.

He is survived by wives and children.
