Rivers Police Rescue Two Kidnap Victims, Kill Two Suspects

The Rivers State Police Command is working round the clock to counter the activities of kidnappers who have been terrorizing residents of Rivers state.

Rivers State Police command is intensifying efforts to rid the state of kidnapping. The Tactical Unit of the command on Monday, 23 November, at about 9.30 am stormed criminals’ hideout at the Umubele Waterfront in Port Harcourt and successfully rescued two kidnapped victims namely David Eke and Callistus Nnamdi.
 
This was revealed in a statement made available to journalists in Port Harcourt by the Command Spokesman, Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP.
 
He said: “the victims were kidnapped on 13 November along Airport road Port Harcourt.
 
“Two unidentified suspected kidnappers found guarding the rescued victims were gunned down during exchange of fire that ensued. Two locally made pistols, four cartridges and charms were recovered from the deceased kidnappers.”
 
Also, the Muhammad annouced the rescue of Mrs Lillian Nkanba-Davies, Bursar of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, by the Special Tactical outfit of the Command set up by the Commissioner of Police to tackle the menace of kidnappings in the state.
 
Mrs. Lilian Davies, who was kidnapped on 17 November while travelling along Bori-Yaghe road, was rescued at the bush around Kaani in Khana Local Government.
 
According to the Muhammad, “the rescue team during the operation had a fierce gun duel with the kidnappers resulting in the death of four kidnappers. One AK47 rifle, one locally made pistol, one magazine, 25 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition and five cartridges were recovered at the scene after the operation.”
 
The command warned Criminal elements operating in the to state to relocate from Rivers State as the police are determined more than before to take the onslaught to their hideouts. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Musa Kimo appealed to the people of Rivers State to remain calm, confident and trusting in the ability of the Command to discharge its constitutional mandate, assuring the public that the command will do more.
