Men of the Nigeria Police Force who were chasing a suspected internet fraudster have shot at a yet-to-be identified girl at Edjeba Community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Daily Post reports.
The policemen, who were on routine patrol of the area, stopped the suspected internet fraudster (yahoo boy) but he refused and sped-off
The policemen gave him a hot chase and in the process, shot at his vehicle tyres but the bullet bounced back and hit the yet-to-be identified girl, who was later rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
When contacted for comments, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the report in a telephone chat with DAILY POST correspondent in Warri, Friday morning.
DSP Onovwakpoyeya said, “The policemen had reasons to suspect the vehicle and the guy was running.
“So, they were chasing him. In the process, they shot at his tyre and the bullet recurtiated (bounced back) and hit somebody. Some pellets of it, a lady.
“They said she’s in stable condition right bow but the crowd now came out and obstructed the Police. The guy escaped with the vehicle. But the lady was taken to the hospital. She’s in stable condition”.
Onovwakpoyeya noted that nobody died during the incident which caused tension in the area.
