Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, have arrested a suspected terrorist named Abubakar Ango.
Police caught the suspect after pulling them over for a routine check in Kukawa village, which is located in the Wase area of Plateau State.
Officers reportedly found an AK 47 magazine, 7.62mm ammunition, two mobile phones, suspected illegal drugs and N30,000 in cash on him.
Military sources told reporters in Jos that the arrest happened on Thursday during a routine security patrol.
The aim was to find and catch suspected criminals in the area.
Early questioning reportedly linked Ango to a suspected terrorist group led by a man called Kaura.
He is now in military custody while investigators work out how deeply he was involved and who else is part of the group.
The sources urged residents to keep helping the military and other security agencies by sharing timely and reliable information.
They said public cooperation is key to making these operations work and asked people to stay alert and report anything suspicious to the proper authorities.
