The governor of Kaduna state has begun to initiate moves to reconcile the military and the members of Shiites group who clashed over the weekend.

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has visited Zaria town where soldiers and Shi’ites clashed in the weekend that resulted to several deaths.
Daily Post reports that the spokesman to the governor, Samuel Aruwan, in a brief statement disclosed that the governor who had already sued for calm spoke with the Shiites leader, Sheik Ibraheem Zakzaky on phone and as well met with Lt.Gen. Buratai in Zaria.
The statement reads: "Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, had appealed for calm and peace.
“The governor has spoken on phone with Sheik Ibraheem Zakzaky and later proceeded to Zaria to see things for himself.
“He later met with Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai, in Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, immediately after the passing out parade ceremony.
“The situation is calm and security has been beefed up in Zaria.”
