Ogun Police Arrest Two Men For Allegedly Diverting A Company's Goods Worth N4.5M (Photo)

A 32-year-old driver at Parkway Investment, a subsidiary of C_WAY Foods and Beverages Company Ota identified as Mutiu Olaonipekun, has been arrested by the Ogun state police command for allegedly diverting goods worth #4.5 million belonging to the company.

The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Onipanu divisional headquarters by the company that the driver was given a truck loaded with the company's goods on March 15 to deliver somewhere in Isolo Lagos. It was alleged that the driver absconded with the truck as well as the goods and his whereabouts was unknown.

A statement released by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson of the state police command, states that upon the report, the DPO Onipanu division, CSP Bamidele Job, detailed his detectives to unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of the driver and the goods. Oyeyemi said after weeks of painstaking investigation, the empty truck was recovered at Ewupe area of ota. Further investigation revealed that the goods was trans loaded into another vehicle before taken to the receiver.

''The receiver of the stolen goods, Kayode Afolabi was there and then traced and he was subsequently arrested .

On interrogation, Mutiu Olaonipekun confessed that, he took the goods to Kayode Afolabi who bought it from him at the rate of #2,572,000

He stated further that he used part of the money to buy a Volkswagen LT Bus at the rate of #900,000 , and that he used the remaining balance to play bet9ja.

On his own part, Kayode Afolabi confessed receiving the stolen goods,and that the goods had been re sold to one Alhaji Adamu Kano who is now at large.''

Abimbola added that the state commissioner of police cp Edward Awolowo Ajogun has directed that the suspects be thoroughly investigated and charged to court as soon as possible.
