Photo Of Six Cultists Who Were Nabbed During Initiation Ceremony In Lagos

No less than six suspected cultists have been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command.

They were nabbed for allegedly conducting initiation rites and attacking one Temidire Ogunbajo at Majidun, in the Ikorodu area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Tuesday that policemen attached to the Ikorodu Division and local vigilantes arrested one Fatai Kalejaiye, 25, while initiating one Kolapo Ayeobasan, 20, around 7.30pm on April 19, 2021.

“Fatai, who has confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity, was caught while performing rites of initiation on the second suspect, Kolapo,” the PPRO stated.

Similarly, Adejobi said police operatives attached to the Ipakodo Division in Ikorodu arrested four suspected cultists, Sunday Mesagan, 16; Damilade Matiminu, 24; Oladimeji Orimoloye, 19; and Akinmoye Emmanuel, 24.

He said, “The arrest was follows a complaint received from one Temidire Ogunbajo that some suspected armed cultists invaded her house and attacked her and other residents in the Majidun community, Ikorodu, on April 16, 2021, around 8.30am.

“The police, in conjunction with local security operatives in Ikorodu, swung into action and arrested some of them one after the other between April 16 and 18, 2021, while others are still at large. Items recovered from the suspects include one chisel, one cutlass, broken bottles, charms and some other weapons.

“The suspects will be taken to the command’s Special Squad for further investigation on the orders of the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu. The CP also ordered that the fleeing members of the gang be apprehended by all means so as to make them to face the full wrath of the law.”
