Kelechi Iheanacho, the rave-making Leicester City forward, has said he wishes his mother was alive to celebrate his success.
Iheanacho lost his mother, Mercy, when he was only 16 years.
She died in a hospital after a brief illness.
Few months after Mercy’s death, Iheanacho rose to stardom, leading Nigeria to the FIFA U17 World Cup in UAE.
His performances at the competition earned him a move to Manchester City, before he eventually joined Leicester City.
“I wish I had my mom here to celebrate with me, because she is one person in my life that always stood by me.
“It breaks my heart when I remember she is no more and she’s not even enjoying all this.
“Death is unfair. Imagine having the chance to buy her whatever she’d like to have now, take her wherever she’d love to go, yet death took her away,” Iheanaco was quoted by Brila.net.
