Snipers pride themselves on their ability to skillfully blend into their background - and these pictures are perfect examples of their camouflage expertise.

Ok, let's help you out. Can you spot him now?

In each of these intriguing images, there is a sniper hidden in the landscape, whether he's lying amongst rocks, trees, grass or foliage.

They were taken by Simon Menner, who in 2010 contacted the German Army requesting their help to create images for his "Camouflage" project.

Simon's aim was to show soldiers concealed in natural settings. Military officials agreed to assist him and he set up two separate shoots.

One of the shoots took place in a "boring" forest location in northern Germany with young and inexperienced soldiers, reports Business Insider.

The other was done in the German Alps with elite soldiers. According to Simon, he considers his art to be "a conceptual take on conflict and war", although he admits trying to spot the snipers is great fun, too.

And he finds remarks from people questioning his pictures' authenticity funny.

He said: "First of all, it is real. Whoever has doubts about that should contact the German Army."

Simon added: "There were snipers present in every single shot and they were ordered to aim at the camera. They could see me, even though I was almost never able to see them.

"The training they have received means that in some of the images, no trace of them can be seen – even if you look at the image pixel by pixel.

"This is exactly how a sniper in a forest is supposed to appear."
