Former SGF, Anyim Pius Anyim ‘In EFCC Custody’ Over Alleged N780m Fraud

Anyim Pius Anyim, an ex-secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), was on Sunday, October 24, invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

While there is no official statement yet on why Anyim was grilled by the anti-graft agency, The Nation reported that it is connected to the ongoing probe of a former Aviation Minister, Senator Stella Oduah.

It was alleged that N780 million which was allocated to a rehabilitation project in the ministry under Oduah was allegedly traced to a company linked to Anyim, a one-time president of the Senate.

A source told the publication;

"The EFCC on Sunday (yesterday) commenced the interrogation of a former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, in a case on public funds.

“Anyim arrived at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency in Jabi, Abuja, at about 3pm.

“The interrogation is tied to suspected money laundering involving former Aviation Minister and serving senator Senator Stella Oduah.”
