Four persons have been apprehended by the Zamfara State Task Force on security over fake motorcycle plate numbers and particulars.

Addressing newsmen at the state Government House in Gusau, the state capital, the chairman of the taskforce, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Dauran said the suspects were arrested based on intelligence.

He gave the name of the dealer as Ibrahim Rututu, saying that over 30 fake motorcycle plate numbers and fake documents were recovered from him in the operation.

According to him, during interrogation, the dealer confessed that he used to buy the fake plate numbers and fake particulars from Kaduna State in large numbers.

Speaking further, the chairman said some suspects who bought some of the motorcycle plate numbers and fake particulars were arrested, saying that the suspects led the Taskforce to the dealer where he was apprehended.

“These dealers on fake motorcycle plate numbers and particulars were selling the motorcycle plate numbers to bandits for their nefarious activities,”
he added.

According to the chairman, all the suspects made confessional statements, saying that they would be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further interrogation.

When interviewed, the dealer of the fake motorcycle plate numbers said he was selling the motorcycle plate numbers and documents between N1500 and N2500 each.

In another development, the Taskforce has paraded one Uzairi Isah with a Boxer motorcycle, with a full tank of petrol suspected to be for bandits operating in the State.

“We arrested him because we suspected him to be a bandit and had come to the town to buy fuel with the motorcycle,”
the team said.

According to the chairman of the taskforce, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Dauran, when interrogated he claimed that he was a motorcycle rider operating in Abuja.
