Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central at the 8th National Assembly, has lamented the worsening insurgency in the northwest.
Some parts of the region, mostly Kaduna and Niger states, have continued to boil following attacks on communities by the assailants.
Recall that the Kaduna State Government yesterday said bandits killed a total number of 1,192 and abducted 3,348 people in the state in 2021.
Mr Samuel Aruwan, the state Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, while presenting the security situation report from January to December 2021 to Governor Nasir El-Rufai, explained that Kaduna Central Senatorial District recorded about 720 deaths from banditry, communal clashes, violent attacks and reprisal attacks.
According to the commissioner, the Southern Kaduna Senatorial District recorded 406 deaths following the activities of the armed bandits in the area.
Similarly, in Niger State, dozens of people were killed with many houses burnt in attacks at Galadima-Kogo and Galkogo communities of Shiroro Local Council a few days ago.
The armed men were said to have launched the attacks after overpowering security operatives in the area.
Lamenting the continuous attacks, the former lawmaker said the only time the region gets relief from the attacks is when President Muhammadu Buhari visits.
Senator Shehu Sani stated this in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday.
He said, “Bandits continue to kill in Kaduna, Niger and other states in the North West; the only time respite comes is whenever the president visits”.
