Protest Rocks Abuja Over Buhari’s Delay In Signing Electoral Bill
There was a protest in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, by a coalition of the Civil Society Organisations comprising of over 24 groups to compel President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the re-worked Electoral Bill.
The protesters, who converged on the Unity Fountain in their numbers on Tuesday morning, were said to be heading to the National Assembly Complex.
They were sighted with different placards containing different inscriptions such as “Buhari Sign Electoral Bill Now”, “Prevent Elections Rigging”, “The Bill Protects the Voting Rights of PWDS”, “Buhari Save Our Democracy”, among others.
Meanwhile, the presidency had early this morning, assured Nigerians that President Buhari would in a matter of hours from now, sign the bill which was transmitted on January 31, 2022, into law.
Mr Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity gave the assurance when he featured on Channels Television programme, Sunrise Daily.
