It was gathered that the security operatives killed over 100 bandits on Wednesday as they foiled a planned attack on a police station.

The PUNCH reports that an inspector of police has been killed in a gun battle between the Joint Security Task Force in Niger State and bandits in Bangi, Mariga Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the security operatives killed over 100 bandits on Wednesday as they foiled a planned attack on a police station.

The security operatives were said to have joined forces with the residents of Bangi to prevent the bandits from passing through the village.

It was learnt that the bandits belonged to the same group that attacked and killed the Divisional Police Officer of the Nasko Police Station and six other security operatives three days earlier.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mary Berje, stated that the bandits had planned another attack on a police station.

Berje stated, “It was reported that terrorists in their numbers, on Wednesday, stormed the Bangi Divisional Police Station to attack security personnel in a similar way they did at Nasko about three days ago.

“They were, however, unfortunate as the joint security operatives got wind of the plan and fiercely engaged the terrorists, which led to the killing of many criminals, while many others escaped with gunshot wounds.”

Berje said about 50 motorcycles belonging to the terrorists were recovered during the gun battle.
