Unconfirmed reports making rounds on Twitter by a man named Mr Aye Dee has revealed social media influencer and writer, Tolu Ogunlesi engineered the act of defamation by The Economist in new publication.
The Economist has described former President, Goodluck Jonathan as an
'ineffectual buffoon' which has caused an uproar on the social media as Nigerians feel the report is degrading and condescending on a man of a high repute like the former Nigerian leader.
In an article titled:
“Cheap oil is causing a currency crisis in Nigeria. Banning imports is no solution”, The Economist accused Jonathan of mismanaging Nigeria. It also faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s handling of the economy.
Mukhtar Dan’Iyan, popularly called Mr Aye Dee, has fingered writer and columnist, Tolu Ogunlesi to be involved in the write-up.
The Niger-State born U.S.-based Nigerian political analyst cum social media expert, in a series of tweets expressed his disgust for the defaming article, and mostly, disappointment in his alleged suspicion of Ogunlesi's part.
Ogunlesi is yet to make an official response on the allegations levelled against him.
