A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday dismissed a suit, filed by Kingsley Kuku, the former Adviser to ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan and co-coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme , which sought to stop his investigation or arrest by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

The trial judge, Okon Abang while delivering judgment in the suit, declared that the anti graft commission has statutory obligation to investigate Kuku over alleged financial misappropriation during his tenure as amnesty co-coordinator.

Justice Abang also held that the EFCC has the right to arrest Kuku if he refused to honour invitation sent to him. The court noted that the current travail of the embattled ex-special adviser in the administration led by Jonathan has nothing to do with his political affiliation.

Kuku had filed a suit against the EFCC and the Department of State Services (DSS) where he prayed the court for protection from arrest by agents of the commission and DSS operatives.

The applicant who is currently outside the country on medical treatment alleged that there was purported plan to arrest him at the Airport in Lagos, on his return to the country.
