A Kaduna state resident, Hussaini Kanir has lamented his inability to exercise his franchise in the 2023 Presidential Elections after the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS) failed to differentiate between him and his twin brother, Hassan.
The BVAS is an electronic device used to read permanent voter cards (PVCs) and authenticate voters using fingerprints and facial recognition.
In a Twitter post, the law student said he went to the polling unit with Hassan on Saturday to vote for their preferred candidate.
According to him, after his twin brother voted, he was unable to vote because the BVAS indicated that his face was the same as that of Hassan.
"So, I couldn’t vote because my twin voted before me. Unfortunately for me, the machine indicated that same face was scanned. Fingerprint didn’t work also. Saddened (to be honest) tbh. I remain Atikulated,” he tweeted.
