The abducted brothers
Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, OPHD, with the joint efforts of the local vigilante, foiled bandits' attack and rescued abducted victims at Bula village of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Sunday, March 12.
According to eyewitnesses, the armed bandits stormed the community in their large numbers shooting sporadically in the wee hours of Sunday.
The sources said they were forced back to the forest due to the superior power of the OPHD troops and the vigilante group.
Brigadier General S Ahmed, commander 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Gusau, recalled that there was a similar attack on the community in the last three weeks.
He added that the troops of the OPHD blocked the exit route of the bandits, denied them freedom of action and rescued two women and a baby abducted from the village.
He vowed to sustain the successes recorded by his predecessor and apply new tactics to professionally eliminate any recalcitrant bandit within his area of operation.
In a similar development, bandits stormed Kaura-Namoda on Saturday night, March 11, and abducted a staff of the Federal Polytechnic, Aliyu Jar-Waya, alongside his brother, Bello Aliyu, a medical practitioner.
