The Nasarawa State Police Command has made a new revelation about the thugs who caused mayhem ring the elections.
The police revealed that at least 17 criminal elements suspected to be political thugs were arrested during the March 18 gubernatorial elections in the state.
In a press briefing on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nanse told journalists that the thugs who were nabbed by military operatives patrolling along Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area of the state were in possession of different kinds of weapons.
Following the existing synergy, on 17/03/2023 the eve of the election, military operatives patrolling along Umaisha, Toto LGA intercepted a Toyota pickup vehicle and a Toyota Siena bus loaded with persons suspected to be political thugs.
The suspects according to the PPRO include, Aaron Samson, Tijani Jemba, Abdullahi Salihu, Usman Abubakar, Abdullahi Usman, Mohammed Abdulahi, Babangida Mohammed Kasimu A. Danladi, Saidu A. Suleiman, Salihu Abdulkareem, Shamsudeen Abubakar, Usman Murtala, Mohammed Sule, Huseini Elhag, James Emeka, Idris Abdullazeez and Ibrahim Alhassan all males from FCT, Nasarawa and Imo State respectively.
He said two English pump action guns, Nine locally fabricated guns, twenty live cartridges, twenty-four handsets of different brands, two unregistered vehicles, fifteen pairs of desert booths, a bag containing a belt, bullet proof jackets were recovered from the suspects.
The spokesperson assured that the suspected thugs will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia.
