Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress has been declared winner of the Kebbi Governorship election after a supplementary election last Saturday.
Announcing the result that was decided by the supplementary election last Saturday, the Returning Officer, Professor Saidu Yusuf said Nasir Idris scored 409,225 votes to defeat his closest rival, General Aminu Bands of the PDP who garnered 360,940 votes.
The announcement of Idris’ victory was widely received with pockets of celebrations across the length and breadth of the State, even as the supporters of the PDP appear to have received the results in utter disbelief.
In his acceptance speech, the Governor-elect Nasiru Idris promised to run an all-inclusive government, promising to build on the existing achievements of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
He further said, “Let me use this opportunity to thank our teeming supporters who turned out en mass to vote APC into the office to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.
“To those whom we contested against in the other parties, you should know we have no other state than Kebbi; you should therefore join hands with us to move the state forward,” he noted.
