Alh. Rabi’u Isah Taura, the candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP, for Jigawa Northwest Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, has died.
Rabiu Taura died Tuesday morning after suffering from a serious backache for a long period.
He served as Jigawa State secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; Commissioner of Land, and Commissioner of Agriculture and natural resources under Sule Lamido’s administration.
He later defected to NNPP alongside his boss, the NNPP gubernatorial candidate, Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, who was then at loggerheads with Lamido.
The deceased is survived by wives, children, and grandchildren.
Ringim confirmed the death in a statement issued to newsmen.
He described his death as a great loss not only to the families but to the state and country in general.
He prayed for Allah SWA to grant the soul eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Ringim said the funeral prayer will take place today Tuesday at 10:00 am in Taura Local Government.
