Nigerian actor, producer and director, Kunle Afolayan has celebrated after his film, Anikulapo won five awards at the just concluded 2023 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards.
The movie, Anikulapo, won Best Actress in a Drama won by Bimbo Ademoye; Best Soundtrack (Movie/TV Series) for Kent Edunjobi; Best Indigenous Language, Yoruba (Movie/TV Series); Best Sound Editor (Movie/TV Series) for Anu Afolayan; Best Writer (Movie/TV Series) for Sola Dada.
In a brief gratitude message posted on his verified Instagram page on Monday, Afolayan thanked God, his team, Naija Netflix, Africa Magic, his fans, mother and all his well-wishers.
“All thanks to Olodumare! 5 Awards! Congratulations to the winning team. Thanks to @naijaonnetflix for the partnership to make the film and thanks to @africamagic for the recognition.
“Thanks to the #kunlesfolayanfans and soldiers out there. Thanks to Maami and all my well-wishers for the prayers and thanks to families and friends for the support."

Anikulapo is a riveting narrative about Saro, a man who leaves his birthplace in search of a better life, only to become engaged in a perilous love affair with the king’s wife. As events escalate out of control, Saro dies untimely and is resurrected by Akala, a legendary bird with the power to give and take life.
