Drama As Thugs Beat Protocol Officers At Niger Assembly’s Inauguration

Some protocol officials of Niger Assembly have been beaten up by thugs on Tuesday.

They were beaten up during the inauguration of the new lawmakers.

The protocol officials were in the Assembly as early as 6 am to arrange the seats for dignitaries and visitors.

However, when the thugs arrived, they took over the seats allocated for the media, families as well as wives of the new legislators and invited guests.

Attempts by the protocol members to preserve the seats for the assignes earned them beatings by the thugs who tore their clothes and wounded them. 

One of the Protocol staff Victor had wounds in his eyes, hands and face with his clothes torn. 

There was little or no crowd control as the security and protocol officials were overwhelmed by the surging crowd.

As at the time of filing this story, the Inauguration was yet to commence.
